Goal: Raise $10,000 for The Haven House
As you may know, our beloved Alaska ranks #1 in the nation for the percentage of it's children in the foster care system. This is heartbreaking and leaves families devastated and with long term effects. The problem seems overwhelming but there is hope.
We have some exciting news! US Missionaries to Alaska, Linda and Brian Staub, have received a new assignment. They are opening The Haven House, a 7 bedroom home for foster children! They will be working in partnership with the Dream Center to help families heal and be together while working through a time of great difficulty and healing. The Staub's are set to move in to the house on October 31st and begin caring for children as quickly as possible. There is one big problem: They need furniture (beds, dressers, couches, a large kitchen table, etc.) and all the other items that every home has such as linens, towels, dishes, toys, decor, supplies...and the list goes on! They need these things as soon as possible. It is my goal to raise $10,000 for these needs. Be sure to take the video tour of the house here on this page.
In the first week of November, I plan to do an Arctic Triathlon to raise money through BGMC for this project. I plan to go to North Pole, Alaska, where I will snowshoe, dog sled and do an Arctic Plunge to raise funds and awareness for this project! I will be calling on all my friends here in Alaska and everyone I know to help me raise our goal to help Have house! Please help me and donate toward this project. You will receive BGMC giving credit for your church and our district. Thank you!
